The story of George
George Elmsworth planted the orchard behind the family homestead in 1959 — one tree for each of his children, then one for each grandchild as they arrived. Ninety trees stood in rows by the time he passed, and the family still presses cider from them every October.
Ask any relative where the family comes from and they will point up Lantern Hill. George is the reason: he stayed, he planted, and he remembered everyone who had done the same before him.
